The Catholics think that they and Muslims worship the same God.
Here
is the quote from the Catholic Catechism:
"The Church's relationship with the Muslims 'The plan of salvation also includes
those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are Muslims, these profess to hold to the faith of Abraham,
and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day." #841
Now I dunno about you
but this sounds like the Catholic thinks the Muslim is already saved.
Whaddya Think?
It does sound like they bypassed Jesus in this
statement.
What is interesting is that claiming to 'profess the faith of
Abraham' as Muslims do, means something
specific now.
"Before Abraham was, I Am" (John 8:58)
"By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac:
and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed
be called: 19
Accounting that GOD WAS ABLE TO RAISE HIM EVEN FROM THE DEAD; from whence also he received him in a figure."
(Hebrews 11:19)
This being a foreshadowing of the resurrection of Christ, you would think that those that claim to
believe what Abraham said and did would not have a problem with the resurrection of Jesus.
In fact they (Muslims) believe
in some kind of swoon theory, that Jesus didn't actually die but they just thought he did.
And Islam was not created
before the Incarnation of Christ and the Revelation of the Trinity of God, it happened after it. (6th Century A.D.)
