Question:
Can You Tell Me if this statement from the Catholic Catechism paves the way for Evolution
theory and why?
"God himself created the visible world in all its richness, diversity, and order. Scripture
presents the work of the Creator symbolically as a succession of six days of divine 'work,'concluded by the 'rest' of the
seventh day. On the subject of creation, the sacred text teaches the truths revealed by God for our salvation, permitting
us to 'recognize the inner nature, the value, and the ordering of the whole of creation to the praise of God." (Catholic Catechism,
#337)
My Answer:
Notice that it says:
"God himself created the visible world in all its richness, diversity, and order. Scripture
presents the work of the Creator symbolically as a succession of six days of divine 'work,'concluded by the 'rest'
of the seventh day. On the subject of creation, the sacred text teaches the truths revealed by God for our salvation, permitting
us to 'recognize the inner nature, the value, and the ordering of the whole of creation to the praise of God." (Catholic
Catechism, #337)
Notice what is underlined.
These statements are loaded.
First, it says, 'Scripture presents the work of the Creator symbolically as a succession
of six days of divine 'work,'concluded by the 'rest' of the seventh day.'
Where in scripture does it say that scripture presents the work of the creator, in
relation to time and work, symbolically?
This statement in the Catechism makes way for the evolutionary belief that it took
millions of years to get what we got today.
If you are going to claim some or all of scripture symbolic, you need to find that
allowance in scripture.
In other words, you cannot go outside scripture to declare scripture anything other
than what scripture presents itself as.
The only ones that go outside scripture to declare scripture symbolic are those that
want to introduce another work or belief other than scripture as truth and even superior to scripture.
For Example: Catholic Cathechism, Book of Mormon, The Origin of Species...
One has to make scripture symbolic or figurative to allow for their lies.
Did God take millions of years to finally get it right as evolutionists believe?
The scripture doesn't say Six symbolic days it says Six Days and even gives that as
a pattern for the Jews to emulate in their literal workweek. (Genesis 1:31 ; Exodus 20:8-11)
If God's workweek was figurative then that couldn't be used as a pattern for the Jews
workweek.
Also a God that creates things and then says, 'It Needs much Work' rather than
saying, "It is Good' is not a God I care to serve.
He wouldn't be God at all but rather a lame process.
The scripture says that things aren't evolving they are getting worse and breaking
down.
The Gospel of Grace doesn't teach man evolving from a one cell organism to Godhood
as Evolution teaches on the biological side and Mormonism on the spiritual side, it teaches that God reaches down to us and
shows mercy on us. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
He comes down to us, we do not climb up to him. (Philippians 2:5-11)
This is the difference between Christianity and Catholicism or any other errant system
out there.

This link shows the importance in believing those days of creation to be literal
not symbolic.
Next, the statement from the Catholic Catechism goes one step deeper when it says:
'On the subject of creation, the sacred text teaches the truths
revealed by God for our salvation, permitting us to 'recognize the inner nature, the value, and the ordering of
the whole of creation to the praise of God.'
Here they connect understanding the truths of the creation with salvation.
I agree that they are connected but disagree with what the Catechism has declared
the truths of creation to be, and so must disagree with their resultant conclusions regarding salvation.
If the time given for creation is symbolic then why isn't salvation?
If Catholics allow for God to take so long to perfect his creation in Genesis then
why shouldn't they think he takes that long to save us?
They Do!!!
" "
Fact of the matter is that you cannot get a straight answer from a Catholic on
whether he knows that he is saved or not but then the Catholic wants to give you advice on everything else. (John 17:3: 1
John 5:13)
Salvation throught faith in Christ is immediate, Sanctification is the process that
takes time. (1 Peter 1:23; James 1:21)

If one doesn't know they are saved they cannot counsel others because only those
that are saved and guided by the spirit can counsel others on spiritual matters.
Creation is literal and so is the New Creation (Christians) that happens only
through faith in Christ Jesus, not evolution biologically and spiritually. (2 Corinthians 5:17; )
