I posed some questions in the Christianity Under Fire group in February?
Here are a few of them, then the answer:
Other than a few pushy Gentiles, when were Non Jews actually and finally
included in the plan of salvation and was the plan for the Jews the same as the plan for the Non Jews?
5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of
the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is
at hand. (Matthew 10)
8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship
of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived
the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go
unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. (Galatians 2)

I would also like to ask what the reason for this timing was?
Also I asked:
When Did the Church Begin?
Here:
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art
thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom
of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall
be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16)
Here:
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty
wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and
it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the
Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2)
Here:
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished,
as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized,
which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry
certain days. (Acts 10)
Or sometime else?

Cynthia and I discussed that question in Part 1.
Why is all of this important?
Because if, someone thinks the church began earlier than it did and THEREFORE what
Peter preached to 'all the house of Israel' applies to the church, which has Jews and Gentiles, they could
be preaching the wrong thing to unbelievers today.
The United Pentecostals, Church of Christ, Catholics, JW's ..are preaching the wrong
message partly because they are taking what Peter said to Israel (Acts 2) and applying it to the church.
Look at the chart below and tell me what you think.
5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and
commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans
enter ye not:
6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house
of Israel.
7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven
is at hand. (Matthew 10) |
46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary
that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge
yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. 47 For so hath the Lord
commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of
the earth. 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many
as were ordained to eternal life believed. (Acts 13:46) |
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God
hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart,
and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto
them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are
afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. |
8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the
circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived
the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go
unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. (Galatians 2)

fell on all them which heard the word. (Gentiles) 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished,

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of
God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek....21 But
now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even
the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 1:16, 3:21-23) |
